Job Summary:

The Laboratory Technician takes direction from the Analytical Lab Manager. The Analytical Lab primarily serves as a quality control lab for manufacturing that is responsible for routine testing of monomer mixtures and incoming raw materials, releasing raw materials, and ensuring overall compliance to the quality system. Analytical is also responsible for supporting R&D product development programs

Qualifications:


The following are required:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a history of safe laboratory practices.
  • Proven wet chemistry skills are a must.
  • Strong instrumental software skills and hands on experience preparing and analyzing samples using HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, XRF and DSC.
  • Strong computer skills. Must be able to format, edit, use formulas in spreadsheet and perform data analyses. Experience with Microsoft software and MatLab, preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment issues preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Will be required to summarize data, write reports, and communicate results quickly.
  • Experience writing laboratory test methods preferred.
  • Organized and able to prioritize work.
  • Exhibit leadership skills to support needs of a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using Copilot or similar AI chatbots preferred.
  • Must be available to work weekends, some holidays and overtime as needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate good safety, people treatment, ethical behavior and environmental responsibility.
  • Analyze samples using HPLC, GC, FTIR, DSC, UV-Vis, TMA, TGA, XRF, goniometer and other instruments as needed. Able to prepare samples using safe lab practices.
  • Record and transmit analytical results quickly and accurately and write reports for special projects.
  • Operate laser scanner equipment.
  • Purchase materials and order laboratory supplies.
  • Operate instruments and perform instrument calibrations according to standard written procedures.
  • Work with Scientist to develop new test methods. Responsible for writing standard operating procedures for new equipment and test methods.
  • Maintain data records, logbooks, forms, audits, vendor calibration documentation, chemical inventory logs, computer back-up logs, computer folder and files, and quality records for compliance with ISO.
  • Prioritize work and be able to operate multiple instruments concurrently, manage multiple projects, and change priorities when required.
  • Maintain a working home or cell phone, with voice mail.
  • Communicate via Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, telephone and voice mail.
  • Weekend work is a requirement. Must be available to provide work on holidays and additional overtime work is required.
