Analytical Chemist (Testing Laboratory)

Charlotte, NC - 100% Onsite - Day Shift

Contract-to-hire - 90 days - up to $34 hourly

Company & Job Overview

We’re partnering with a well-established, privately held laboratory with decades of success supporting clients across multiple industries. This is a hands-on Analytical Chemist role leading fuel testing initiatives while contributing to a broader range of analytical projects.

This is not a high-volume production lab—it’s a problem-solving, engineering-driven environment where each day brings new technical challenges across diverse materials and applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct chemical analysis of fuels (Gasoline, Jet A, Diesel) using standard lab methods
  • Perform testing for key parameters (flash point, distillation, sulfur content, viscosity, etc.)
  • Lead and support fuel testing operations within the lab
  • Execute QA/QC procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Interpret analytical data and develop technical reports with client-facing insights
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory instrumentation
  • Ensure adherence to ASTM, ISO, and environmental standards
  • Collaborate with engineers and chemists on complex, cross-disciplinary projects

What We’re Looking For

  • BS in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field (required)
  • 5+ years of hands-on chemical testing experience (fuel testing strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of fuel chemistry and testing methodologies
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly
  • Familiarity with ASTM / ISO standards
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset

Note: This role is not aligned with life sciences or medical lab backgrounds

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work across diverse industries (fuels, polymers, textiles, specialty chemicals, metallurgy, etc.)
  • High-impact role with ownership of a core testing function
  • Collaborative, engineering-focused environment (not a siloed lab)
  • Access to modern lab equipment and evolving technical challenges
  • Long-term career opportunity with a stable, established organization

Schedule & Environment

  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Overtime available based on workload (compensated)
  • Fully onsite role in Charlotte, NC between Uptown and the airport
