What You'll Do

As an Analyst - Investment Analytics at Principal Financial Group, you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment, providing critical insights and analytics to improve our sales strategies. This role is outstanding in its focus on delivering flawless investment analysis, enabling our team to strictly compete in the market. You will collaborate closely with our sales teams, offering vital support and expertise to ensure our investment products are exceptionally positioned. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting detailed analysis on performance, risk, style, holdings, and qualitative attributes of funds available through Principal’s investment platform.
  • Preparing detailed performance and analytical reports, sharing insights and recommendations to ensure alignment with our world-class standards.
  • Proactively educating and updating business partners within the sales distribution channel.
  • Conducting training sessions for both new and existing employees to guarantee perfect implementation of our sales strategies.
  • Performing other job-related duties or ambitious special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree (Financial or Business degree preferred) or equivalent, plus 2+ years of related experience.
  • CFA, CAIA, or CIMA candidacy, or progression towards designation, or equivalent experience, is desired.
  • Strong proficiency with Morningstar Advisor (or similar tool) and Microsoft Office applications PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of the asset management business and investment products.
  • Diligent with the ability to effectively and professionally communicate and build relationships with various collaborators.
  • Able to efficiently research, analyze, and synthesize information.
  • Must be customer service and team-oriented, able to work independently, and adept at managing multiple requests to strict deadlines.
  • Some travel may be required.

Licenses must be held in conformity with state and federal rules and company standards as detailed in the existing licensing policy. The following licenses need to be acquired within 6 months of hiring:

  • Series 7

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. The following salary ranges reflect market-specific compensation for this position across multiple job levels. Candidates will be evaluated to determine the appropriate job level based on their skills and experience. Analyst - Investment Analytics: $73,150- $99,750/ year Sr. Analyst - Investment Analytics: $89,300 - $120,650/ year

Salary Range

$73150 - $120650 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

  • Proven relationship‑building skills across various stakeholders.
  • Strong research abilities with the capacity to efficiently analyze and synthesize information.
  • Adept at managing multiple requests while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Capable of making sound, independent business decisions.

Location

This position is based out of our Des Moines, IA office and will have a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
