Analyst II – LC-MS / Peptide Analysis

NxtGen is a growing cGMP analytical testing laboratory specializing in peptide and protein characterization. We are seeking an Analyst II to support routine analytical testing with a focus on LC-MS and peptide analysis.

This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience who can operate independently and contribute to data quality, method execution, and laboratory efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine LC-MS analysis (Agilent systems preferred) for peptide identification, characterization, and impurity profiling
• Conduct HPLC/UPLC testing for purity, related substances, and method-based analysis
• Prepare samples, solvents, calibration standards, and system suitability solutions
• Process, review, and verify analytical data for accuracy and completeness
• Generate and review analytical reports in accordance with internal procedures
• Perform basic troubleshooting of LC-MS and chromatographic systems
• Support method transfer, verification, and routine method execution
• Assist with investigations (e.g., OOS/OOT) and deviation documentation as needed
• Support endotoxin (LAL) and sterility testing as required
• Maintain complete and compliant documentation in accordance with GDP and ALCOA+
• Follow SOPs, cGMP/GLP requirements, and safety procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready laboratory environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field
• 2–5 years of analytical laboratory experience
• Hands-on experience with LC-MS and HPLC/UPLC systems (Agilent preferred)
• Experience with peptide analysis strongly preferred
• Familiarity with data processing and chromatographic/mass spectral interpretation
• Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

Working Conditions

• Environment: Laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals, biological materials, and laboratory equipment.
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
• Location: North Charleston, SC.
• PPE: Required use of personal protective equipment (lab coat, gloves, safety glasses).
