About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Aircraft Structural Mechanics to support classified heavy modification programs on fixed‑wing military aircraft in Colorado Springs. This long‑term role focuses on complex structural and sheet metal modifications on C‑130 and KC‑135 airframes, performed in a climate‑controlled, FAA‑regulated hangar.

This position offers stable, ongoing work supporting mission‑critical defense programs, with the potential to transition into a direct role based on performance and program needs.

Compensation, Per Diem & Start Timeline
  • $43/hr total compensation
  • Per diem available for those who qualify (split per diem structure)
  • June start timeframe
  • Personal tools required (shadowed toolbox; tools etched or color‑marked by Day 1)
Security Requirements
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance OR be eligible to obtain one
  • Ability to pass FAA drug screening and a 7‑year background check
What You’ll Do
  • Perform heavy structural modifications on fixed‑wing military aircraft, primarily C‑130 and KC‑135 platforms
  • Complete sheet metal repairs, fabrication, and light‑to‑heavy structural modifications using approved engineering data
  • Remove, repair, and install aircraft structural components using rivet guns and standard sheet metal tools
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and work instructions to complete tasks accurately
  • Perform depot‑level and heavy maintenance structural work as required by the modification program
  • Conduct aircraft structural inspections to identify corrosion, damage, or discrepancies and execute approved repairs
  • Accurately document completed work in accordance with program, quality, and security requirements
What We’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of aviation structures experience if exclusively military, or 4+ years combined military/civil aviation structures experience
  • Strong experience in aircraft sheet metal repair and structural modification
  • Hands‑on experience with fabrication, drilling, cutting, forming, and riveting aircraft materials
  • Proficiency using rivet guns and standard structures tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience in heavy maintenance or depot‑level aviation environments
  • Ownership of a complete tool set with a shadowed toolbox system
  • Ability to pass a basic sheet metal structures test on Day 1
  • Stable employment history demonstrating reliability
  • Ability to work in a secure, classified environment
Additional Qualifications
  • Prior experience on C‑130, KC‑135, or similar military transport aircraft
  • Experience supporting defense or government aviation programs
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as required by program demand
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety

Work Environment

Work is performed in a climate‑controlled, FAA‑regulated hangar dedicated to classified military aircraft modification programs. Schedules typically follow four 10‑hour shifts, with both first and second shift operations. Most teams are on day shift, but flexibility to support second shift is required. Overtime may be available based on program needs but is not guaranteed. The environment emphasizes strict tool control, organization, safety, and compliance with security protocols.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $43.00/hr.
