About the Role

Freight Appointments is partnering with a well-established international freight forwarder in Chicago to hire an experienced Export Coordinator (Air & Ocean). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced logistics environment and can confidently manage shipments from start to finish while keeping customers informed and satisfied.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end export shipments across air and ocean (A–Z)
• Prepare and review all export documentation (HAWB/MAWB, HBL/MBL, commercial invoices, packing lists, etc.)
• Coordinate with airlines, steamship lines, warehouses, truckers, and overseas agents
• Ensure compliance with TSA regulations and international shipping requirements
• Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers
• Troubleshoot delays and resolve issues quickly and efficiently
• Handle billing, file costing, and ensure shipment profitability
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in internal systems

Requirements

• 2+ years of export experience within a freight forwarding environment (air and/or ocean)
• Strong knowledge of export documentation and compliance procedures
• Familiarity with TSA regulations (air) and ocean shipping processes
• Experience working with carriers, vendors, and international agents
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a high-volume environment
• Proficiency in logistics systems and Microsoft Office

Preferred

• DG Certified (IATA)
• Experience with AES filings
• Cargowise or similar system knowledge
• Exposure to both air and ocean shipments
