Primary Objectives of the Position:

The Agronomy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, accurate, and efficient delivery and application of crop inputs, including fertilizers and crop protection products. This role ensures operational excellence in field application services while supporting team coordination, equipment readiness, and strong customer relationships that reinforce the cooperative’s reputation and member loyalty.


Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery and application of fertilizers and crop protection products according to agronomic recommendations and customer specifications.
  • Ensure accurate application rates as directed by Agronomy leadership.
  • Supervise and participate in the handling, transport, and application of anhydrous ammonia in compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
  • Foster positive communication and relationships with patrons and team members to promote trust, service excellence, and long-term loyalty to the cooperative.
  • Responsible for accurately mixing chemicals in accordance with manufacturers requirements.
  • Follows company safety programs and wears personal protection equipment as required.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Agronomy equipment.
  • Responsible for proper calibration of meters to assure accurate mixing results.
  • Keeps records and maps of all spraying applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Other:

  • Must be in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying and pushing weights up to 50 pounds and have full use of both arms and legs and both hands.
  • Must be able to work 7 days a week when needed to meet cooperative’s business needs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.
  • Must attend all educational training required by law.
  • Be able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
  • Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
  • Must have custom applicators license.
  • Must comply with all safety regulations and policies of the company.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school graduate required. Experience may be substituted for education.
  • Must have a valid Class A commercial driver’s license with haz-mat and tanker endorsements, or be able to acquire the licensure immediately
  • Must have a strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Value-Added Qualifications:

  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Experience in agriculture or with a Cooperative preferred.
