Job Title: Aerospace Assemblers

Location: Lansing, Michigan (Onsite, Manufacturing Floor)

Type of Role: Direct Hire (Full-Time, Onsite)

Shift: 2:30pm-12:30 or 3:30-1:30 M-S (hours may vary, weekends/OT as needed)

Pay: $23.00-$27.50/hr plus 7% shift premium


POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an Aerospace Assembler to support precision aerospace and defense manufacturing at our Lansing, Michigan facility. This role is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing complex parts and subassemblies in accordance with detailed drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced production environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and assembly documentation to understand assembly procedures, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Assemble, align, and fit structural and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform drilling, riveting, bonding, sealing, and fastening operations in accordance with work instructions and quality requirements.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to verify fit, alignment, and dimensional accuracy, ensuring a defect-free product standard.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, including logging time in an ERP system and ensuring traceability of parts and work orders.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances or issues to quality and engineering teams, and assist in resolving issues.
  • Maintain 5S standards and a clean, safe work environment; follow ATC safety, quality, and production policies, as well as customer requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives as directed by the Plant Superintendent.


QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or a related field (aerospace or defense preferred).
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions, and measurement data.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with various departments.


Additional Qualifications

  • Previous aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards and lean/5S practices.
  • Experience with composite assembly, bonding, or precision drilling.
  • Basic computer proficiency for production and quality data entry.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing floor environment, including: standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and wearing required PPE.
