The Department of Parks & Recreation, Southern Region Parks Division (SRPD) is seeking a highly experienced professional to fill the role ofAdministrative Specialist I.
As the Administrative Specialist, the selected candidate will perform administrative support duties for the Administrative Supervisor and the Division Leadership with special projects, day-to-day functions, research, and long-range project management. The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, be highly motivated, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be organized and flexible, have excellent external and internal customer service skills, and be able to keep pace with a varied work program and work with a diverse team. This position will report to the Administrative Supervisor.
Budgeted Hiring Range: $$54,998 - $76,200 with growth potential to $97,403. Salary commensurate with experience.
- Provide back-up support to the Administrative Supervisor when on leave.
- Provide primary administrative support for timecard review, including administrative approval, along with leave /payroll issues.
- Provide primary administrative support for the division's career hiring process, including submitting recruitment plans, maintaining vacancy reports and organizational charts, scheduling interviews, creating and submitting recommendations for hires, and all onboarding tasks (including ITS requests).
- Manage the workflow and track recruitment documents; work with Recruiter to keep recruitment processes moving forward.
- Prepare and track purchase orders and check requests as needed.
- Organize, assess, and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
- Collects data from the Enterprise Asset Management program to support operations.
- Monitor administrative processes to ensure conformance with policies and procedures.
- Research designated topics. May perform difficult administrative support work to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of office operations.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a large and diverse staff and work effectively as part of a team or independently to complete work assignments.
- Assist with division communications, including drafting, updating, and editing.
- Perform secondary administrative support to additional procedures, including but not limited to boot vouchers, evaluation, accounts payable, and purchasing processes.
- On occasion, report to different work locations to assist staff with issues that may need in-person attention.
- Act as purchase card administrator.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Finance, Business or any related field.
2. One (1) year of experience in human resource management, finance or any other related areaof business administration.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which togethertotal 5 years.
