This position is supported by
Department of Commerce, as the Designated State Agency (DSA) for The
Developmental Disabilities Council (DDC) by way of Executive Order 76-03 from the Governor. The federal mandate of Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council), an independent entity in state government, is to conduct advocacy, capacity building and systems change activities that expand opportunities for over 100,000 individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) in the state to live full, independent, integrated and productive lives in their communities.
The DD Council advises the Governor and Legislature on DD issues. The council is comprised of people with lived experience of a disability and their family members, as well representatives from Disability Rights Washington, University of Washington, Developmental Disabilities Administration, Department of Health, Aging and Long Term Supports Administration, Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and Health Care Authority. These governor appointed council members are central to the DD Council’s advocacy mission and its leadership in public policy.
This position at the direction of the DD Executive Director, develops, implements and monitors projects and initiates activities on a statewide basis that accomplish the objectives of the DDC. With a focus on maintaining the DDC’s structural systems and suggesting efficiencies and improvements, this team member will bring their technical skills to support both the DDC staff and council members.
Program Support
Tasks include:• Maintain and consult tracking systems for various activities across DDC programs, including Risk Assessments.
• Review and enter invoice voucher requests for reimbursement into electronic management systems.
• Maintain and update electronic application formats for DDC programs/program manager(s), including data collection forms and website communication systems.
• Review, edit and format contracting documents, contracts, amendments, Requests for Proposal (RFP), legislative reports and other externally facing correspondence.
• Coordinate scoring team activities and work with the relevant committees in awarding Council funds to outside contractors.
• Assist with program evaluation-related activities in collaboration with Planning Director and Contracts Manager.
• Ensure all Council programs and project reflect the diversity of State of Washington and outreach to targeted disparate populations such as people living in rural areas.
• Create and utilize materials for projects and activities as assigned.
Council Operations and Communications
Tasks include:• Maintain stakeholder communications systems.
• Collaborate with Council staff, contractors and community collaborators to manage websites and social media platforms, and provide input and technical assistance on public relations resources, information and materials.
• Recommend and utilize efficiencies for Council business such as tracking meeting attendance and minutes, hybrid meeting interactions, etc.
• Collaborate and coordinate with Office Assistant on Council business, projects, programs and tasks.
• Support Membership Coordinator with Council Members’ travel, reimbursements and other coordination as needed.
• Work with Membership Coordinator to identify, develop, and implement appropriate strategies to ensure on-going and increasing quality of Council outputs to members and the public.
• Coordinate workshops/seminars and meetings for DDC projects and programs.
• Support Council staff with scheduling, preparing and hosting meetings including technology support.
• Represent the DDC in local, state and national meetings.
Administrative Support
Tasks include:• Collaborate with Office Assistant to provide general administrative support for the DDC and its programs, including processing incoming and outgoing phone calls, physical and email, Fiscal and Council Member document delivery, assist with travel arrangements and reimbursement, scheduling meetings, and edit and format documents.
• Assist with:
o Onboarding process, including supporting the onboarding and exiting of council members.
o Travel arrangements and reimbursement.
o Public records request responses.
o Scheduling, planning for and hosting meetings.
o Editing and formatting documents.
• Coordinate and compiling of DDC desk manual for team
• Develop and maintain tracking files for program documents.
Required Position Qualifications:
Any combination of five (5) years total experience. This could be gained by a combination of formal education, beyond high school equivalence (to include relevant college level coursework, technical and/or vocational education and/or certification programs) and professional experience as described below.
Experiencemust include two or more of the following areas:
• One (1) year of experience designing and implementing individual accessibility and accommodation supports.
• Familiarity with common document creation and communication programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom and social media platforms.
Educationinvolves study in housing finance, social sciences, health and human services, business, public administration or related field.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
• Experience with Microsoft products such as Forms, Teams and Publisher, as well as website platforms including Word Press and Webflow, Zoom and online accessibility tools such as ReciteMe.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communication with individuals and groups with diverse communication preferences

Work from Anywhere in Washington StateThis position may be located anywhere within Washington State though occasional travel to a Commerce office building or in-state travel to attend events or meetings may be required. If selected, you will need to travel to pick up equipment and receive instruction.
