The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Southern Utah University invites ongoing applications for an online adjunct pool in Sports and Athletic Management. The Sports and Athletic Management concentration offers a unique blend of sports-focused education within a flexible interdisciplinary framework. Students who complete this concentration will graduate with a broad skill set and deep understanding of the sports industry, preparing them for diverse careers in sports management and athletic administration.

Relevant Courses Include:

  • INDS 6770 - Athletic Administration 3 Credit(s)

  • INDS 6780 - Sports Public Relations 3 Credit(s)

  • INDS 6790 - Intercollegiate Athletics Governance and Compliance Courses are taught in an asynchronous, 7-week format.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver instruction in accordance with a pre-designed course curriculum, adhering to established content, assessments, and instructional guidelines.

  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all course assignments.

  • Consistently manage and update student grades in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to university policies and deadlines.

  • Actively foster student success, with particular attention to the academic needs and challenges of non-traditional students.

  • Create a positive online learning environment through effective and regular communication with students, assessment feedback, and course management.

  • Respond to departmental inquiries and emails, typically within one business day, and maintain professional communication with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.

  • Complete all required training by the specified department or university deadline.

  • Submit all required syllabi and related course materials through the university’s designated platform on time.

Minimum Qualification

  • M.A. or Ph.D. in Communication, Sports Management, or in a related field pertinent to the courses topics offered from an accredited college or university.

  • Two or more years of experience teaching in the above field at the college level.

  • Skilled in the use of Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) or other learning management systems.

  • Proven track record of undergraduate online teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of online instructional methodologies.

This position is contingent on funding.

Salary:
  • $900 per undergraduate course (1 ICH),
  • $1800 per undergraduate course (2 ICH).
  • $2700 per undergraduate course (3 ICH).
