Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies

Southern Virginia University seeks an Adjunct Professor of Environmental Studies to teach one to two courses per semester starting in January 2026. Courses may include Environmental Science, Bioconcepts, and/or electives appropriate to the applicant’s expertise. The ideal candidate will be able to relate the principles of environmental science to students within the major and those taking courses for interest or to fulfill general education requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one to two environmental science courses
  • Assist students with course material and hold regular office hours
  • Grade assignments and tests
  • Collaborate on building or improving course content
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, or a closely related field
  • Strong communicator with a desire to provide excellent teaching in higher education
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, or a closely related field
  • Teaching experience in Biology or Environmental Science
  • Career experience in an environmental field
