The Adjunct Professor for the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program plays a key role in delivering high-quality instruction within the School of Health Care. This position provides engaging and effective teaching to students enrolled in MLT courses, ensuring they gain the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies required for success in clinical laboratory settings.
In this role, the instructor contributes to curriculum development, course planning, and ongoing assessment to support program excellence and accreditation standards. Responsibilities also include maintaining instructional spaces, equipment, and materials to ensure a safe, organized, and supportive learning environment.
The Adjunct Professor may teach across a variety of formats, including day, evening, and multi-campus in-person classes, as well as hybrid or online delivery methods, offering flexibility to meet student and program needs. Collaboration with program leadership and faculty is essential to support student learning, uphold academic standards, and contribute to the overall success of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.Four (4) years of professional experience. Knowledge of academic management, effective principles of curriculum/program development and assessment, positive interpersonal skills, effective and correct oral and written communication skills. Knowledge in the following areas: Principles and procedures pertaining to higher education specifically teaching methodologies, standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility, and college mission, goals and objectives. Ability to supervise and coordinate student activities and establish good working relations with alumni, businesses, students, media, faculty, and others in the college community. Teaching experience with allied health sciences, phlebotomy, and medical laboratory courses is preferred.This position requires Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) national certification from ASCP.Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $2,730 per three-credit-hour course. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials, total course credit hours, and lecture-to-lab ratios. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
