General Summary: Central Methodist University seeks PT/PTA practitioner applicants for the position of adjunct faculty instructor for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. The candidate will conduct themselves in a way to enable the program to achieve its purposes and advance the mission of Central Methodist University. A successful candidate will demonstrate aptitude to implement instructional strategies, teach assigned courses, assess student learning, interact with program and departmental faculty to facilitate achievement of program and student outcomes. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Plan clinical learning experiences for nursing students to make maximum use of clinical time.
Respond to inquiries from students, College employees and customers in a timely manner; maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, HIPAA, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.
Teach courses in accordance with established objectives and syllabus; evaluate student learning. Provide continuity and reinforcement of the teaching/learning process throughout the curriculum. Collaborate with members of health agencies to maximize student learning while protecting patients. Develop, coordinate and maintain the department plan to assess student academic achievement.
Maintain and make available a current schedule to accommodate student learning needs. Teach lecture and laboratory courses and operate laboratory equipment. Establish and monitor safety practices within the classroom and laboratory and at clinical sites.
Create and pursue a plan to develop professional opportunities within the scope of work responsibilities, department, and College objectives. Open to pursuing developing education and knowledge base.
Participate in program assessment through data collection and analysis in accordance with the established program and institutional assessment plans.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Candidate must be a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. A graduate of an CAPTE accredited program, and must hold a current license to practice in the State of Missouri.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or a related field is required.
Must be currently licensed in Missouri as a Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.
Must have a minimum of three years full-time, post-licensure clinical work experience in Physical Therapy.
Experience with student assessment in classroom or clinical settings preferred
Candidate must have experience with the PT/PTA relationship and experience supervising students in the PT clinical education environment. In addition, the ideal candidate will have contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas.
Clinical expertise in the area of Orthopedic Rehabilitation preferred.
