The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV) is the country’s leading nonprofit culinary and hospitality training institute.  The On-Call Adjunct Instructor – Food & Beverage is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging food & beverage instruction to students enrolled in CALV classes. This position involves teaching both practical and theoretical components of food and beverage, including continued education courses and or special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong food and beverage expertise, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success and workforce preparedness.


Essential Functions: 


  • Deliver hands-on instruction in food and beverage using a variety of instructional methods.
  • Follow established curriculum to meet learning objectives and student competencies.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with students and colleagues, demonstrating strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Perform related administrative tasks, including attendance, evaluations, and grade records.
  • Adhere to and reinforce local, state, and national food safety regulation protocols.


Minimum Qualifications:


A high school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a coffee shop and/or restaurant operation are required. Experience working with diverse learners is preferred. Candidates should also possess basic computer skills.


Experience and Education Substitutions:

  • An equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.


Licensing and Certification:

  • Current SNHD Food Handler Safety Training Card (required)


Note: Any degree, diploma, high school equivalent, or course hours required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.
