Adjunct Faculty- Small Engine Repair Instructor (Non Credit)

The Workforce & Continuing Education (WCE) Department is seeking an experienced and engaging instructor to teach a non credit Small Engine Repair course. This short-term, hands-on class is designed for adult learners interested in developing practical skills in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing two- and four-cycle small gasoline-powered engines. Upon completion, students will be able to safely service, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, ignition, electrical, fuel, cooling, and starting systems.
  • Deliver clear, organized instruction on the operation, maintenance, and repair of small engines, including lawn mowers, snow blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and similar equipment.
  • Demonstrate proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Provide hands-on guidance as students practice disassembly, inspection for wear, troubleshooting, and reassembly, emphasizing proper serviceability techniques and check procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment in the classroom and lab.
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and lab spaces are properly stored and left in working order after each class session.
  • Track student progress and offer constructive feedback to help learners build confidence and competence.
Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, industry certifications, and relevant work experience will be considered.Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in small engine repair, automotive technology, or a closely related field.
