Overview

Moraine Park Technical College is establishing a candidate pool for part-time Adjunct Faculty Nursing Assistant Instructors to support our Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, and West Bend campuses. We are seeking dedicated professionals to teach Nursing Assistant courses beginning this summer, offered Monday through Friday in the afternoons and evenings. These blended courses combine lecture, hands-on lab instruction, and supervised clinical experiences and may involve up to 26 hours of work per week.

The successful candidate will have a associate degree in Nursing and two years (4,000 hours) of paid work experiences related to the program(s) being taught, including one year (2,000 hours) of paid work experience that has been acquired within the past five years. In lieu of this one year of recent experiences, two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five years may be considered. (Two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.) Must have at least two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience working as a Registered Nurse, with one of those years working as a Registered Nurse in Long Term Care.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College’s core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning by performing classroom management and being aware of, monitoring, and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, records, and documentation as required by Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Submit grades within the expected time-frame.
  • Provide timely verbal and written feedback to the students to ensure continued growth and development.
  • May participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of curriculum.
  • Assist with student recruitment and positively promote the College programs and services offered.
  • Promote retention and student success through the utilization of referrals to College services and resources.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with K-12, Department of Corrections (DOC), community, and industry partners beyond the classroom.
  • Actively maintain proficient knowledge and skills in emerging trends and current occupational practices. Complete annual professional development activities in areas of Faculty Quality Assurance Standards (FQAS) competencies. Complete all required training.

Experience & Qualifications(in addition to those listed in the summary above):

  • Unencumbered, Active WI RN License.
  • Meets Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services (DHS) approval as a Primary Instructor of Nurse Aide, as defined in DHS 129.06(1) and as evidenced by the DHS approval letter on file with the district.
  • Must complete the Nursing Assistant Instructor Train the Trainer Course as DHS 129.06(3) requires.
  • Must be in good standing with all district-wide clinical placements.
  • Experience with all of the following job duties:
    • Personal care of the patient (bathing, oral hygiene, nail care, shaving, shampoo, dressing, and undressing)
    • Maintenance of the patient's environment (safety and cleanliness; safety and infection control; managing linens, dishes, and supplies; making occupied and unoccupied beds)
    • Physical care and emotional support of the patient (apply protective devices and soft restraints; provide back care; apply elastic stockings; assist with ambulation; position patients; assist with feeding; assist with bedpan; transfer techniques)
    • Basic nursing skills (measurements/data collection for vital signs, food intake, and elimination, care of catheter and drainage systems, specimen collection, safe client transfer techniques, minor bowel and skin treatments)
  • Upon hire, must maintain and/or obtain Higher Learning Commission, Faculty Quality Assurance System, and other agency requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write in English and Spanish in professional settings.

Other Position Requirements:

  • Must satisfactorily complete health screen requirements, which may include criminal and caregiver background checks, drug test and/or verification of immunizations.
  • Flexible scheduling may be required to include evenings and weekends.
  • This position may require teaching and/or travel to other MPTC (Moraine Park Technical College) campus locations, client/contract work sites, and/or Department of Corrections (DOC) institutions.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Hiring Range: Adjunct pay rates may vary between $39.85 - $43.99/hour based on course configuration

Starting: Immediately

Hours/Schedule/Travel:Up to 26 hours per week, weekday afternoons and evenings, frequent travel between MPTC campuses and clinical sites.
