Responsibilities

The teaching load for this position is 1 courses per semester, and/or 3 credits. The position entails offering core courses in the field Art History & Visual Culture.

The adjunct professor will teach the following course in Fall 2026: ART 180 Narrative, Creative Storytelling, and Brown Identities in the United States (3 units).

Taught by a visiting artist, writer, or storyteller, this project-oriented course may feature personal biography, short fiction, art writing, oral histories, photo-based narrative, contemporary art practices or other types of storytelling and narrative created around the expansiveness of 'brown' identities in the U.S...

Position Qualifications and Requirements

Adjunct instructors in Art & Visual Studies are required to have a minimum of Master’s degree or equivalent in art history, art, or a closely related humanities field. ABD or PhD in these fields is preferred. Teaching excellence is of primary importance, so preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate prior teaching experience.
