Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable A/R / Accounting Clerk to join our finance team in our Hyattsville, MD office. This role is responsible for customer account setup and maintenance, application of incoming payments, coordination with third-party billing partner, and maintaining accurate accounts receivable records. This position will also be making daily entries through various applications within our DMS (Dealer Management Software), reconciling key balance sheet accounts and assisting where needed in accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up new customer accounts and maintain existing customer records
- Maintain and update customer payment methods and billing profiles (IBS, MVP, cash customers, etc.)
- Review and research customer accounts placed on hold or subject to credit limit changes by IBS
- Respond to internal inquiries from Parts and Service regarding customer status
- Apply customer payments including checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit cards accurately and timely
- Review completed invoices for obvious discrepancies escalating issues as needed
- Review A/R aging reports for accuracy and any adjustments or clean up needed. Reconcile to the GL.
- Understand and follow established processes for accounts managed by external billing partners
- Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming phone calls to the accounting department
- Communicate professionally with customers/employees to address account and payment inquiries
- Collaborate with sales, parts, service, and accounting teams to resolve account-related issues
- Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as requested
- Reconcile accounts as directed for EOM / EOY processes, audits.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards
- Provide limited accounts payable overflow support as needed; specific tasks to be determined based on business needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in accounting preferred
- 2+ years of accounts receivable or general accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Karmak Fusion, QuickBooks, Sage, CDK, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (Vlookup, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication, customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience in dealership, logistics, or multi-entity environments
- Ability to interpret and apply internal controls and financial procedures

Pay Range
The pay range for this role is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
