Accounting Associate II

We believe that everyone deserves equitable access to opportunity and that strong communities create lasting change. We are seeking an Accounting Associate II to join our Finance team and support the financial operations that make this work possible.
This role is responsible for executing core accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the integrity of organizational finances. The position plays a key role in the monthly close process and ensures timely, accurate, and reliable reporting.
You will work closely with the Director of Finance, who focuses on strategic financial leadership, while you support and strengthen day-to-day accounting operations and contribute to ongoing finance transformation initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Accounting
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments
- Reconcile P&L and balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of the general ledger
- Assist in preparing financial statements, including P&L and Balance Sheet reports
Payroll and Benefits Administration
- Prepare bi-weekly payroll
- Maintain employee records in payroll system
- Manage and reconcile 403(b) retirement plan contributions
Revenue and Transaction Accounting
- Enter accounts payable in Bill.com
- Enter donations and apply cash in QBO
- Reconcile QBO to Salesforce
- Manage day-to-day A/P and A/R processes including coding and invoicing
- Record and reconcile revenue, including donations, grants, and pledges
- Ensure proper coding of restricted and unrestricted funds
- Partner with the Development team to ensure accurate tracking of donor activity and reconciliation of QBO to Salesforce
Reporting, Cross-Functional Support, and Strategic Initiatives
- Prepare ad hoc reports for various stakeholders
- Implement systems improvements and automation
- Prepare reports for internal stakeholders and leadership
- Support strategic finance transformation initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or an Associate’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- 2 to 4 years of accounting or finance experience in similar position
- Experience with a nonprofit, education, foundations, a plus
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, and Word is preferred
- Understanding of GAAP for nonprofit organizations is highly desired

PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and cognitive skills. Position is primarily sedentary, but must be able to stand, walk, talk, read, and communicate effectively.

COMPENSATION COMPENSATION:
- Salary Range: $24.00-$28.00/per hour, depending on qualifications
