External Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Overview:

Our client, located in Dedham, MA, is seeking a dedicated Accounting Assistant to join their team for a temporary, part-time role. This position offers a unique opportunity to support the organization’s financial and administrative functions during a transformative period of operational modernization. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, streamlining processes, and supporting system upgrades, all while contributing to an institution committed to education, research, and collaboration.


Compensation:

$26.00 per hour


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate vendor onboarding documentation and assist in creating purchase orders
  • Examine, categorize, and verify invoices based on established financial procedures
  • Aid in preparing and reviewing billing for meetings and events
  • Generate and record journal entries related to revenue, deposits, and credit card transactions
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations and prepare accrual reports
  • Support payroll processing and timekeeping activities
  • Reconcile procurement and travel card expenditures and maintain documentation
  • Oversee cash handling procedures, deposits, and perform monthly cash audits
  • Keep organized records of all financial documentation
  • Assist with onboarding and integration of new financial systems, including Pxier and Cloudbeds
  • Support efforts to enhance automation, operational workflows, and financial controls
  • Contribute to the development of standardized procedures and reporting practices
  • Provide administrative support to senior leadership, including financial reporting and operational projects


Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in accounting, finance, or financial administration
  • Proven expertise in reconciliation, financial operations, and accounting procedures
  • Experience working with financial management systems and enterprise software platforms
  • Exceptional accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Education: High school diploma required; relevant post-secondary education preferred
