The West Virginia Division of Administrative Services is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant/Auditor 3.Operating under general supervision at the full-performance level, this position is primarily responsible for the financial administration of assigned federal and state grants within the Division of Administrative Services. The core focus of this role involves the monthly review, validation, and authorization of fund distributions to sub-grantees. To ensure seamless operations, the administrator will frequently collaborate with criminal justice program specialists to proactively resolve any issues or deficiencies. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as a backup for executing grant fund withdrawals and deposits, assist in onboarding and training new accounting staff, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Success requires exceptional organizational skills, with the proven ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a dynamic environment. Building strong working relationships is essential, so the candidate must demonstrate effective communication skills when engaging with internal staff, outside agencies, and the general public. Furthermore, because this role involves highly sensitive data, the administrator must exercise strict confidentiality regarding sub-grantee grant information and any associated personally identifiable information (PII).

Technical proficiency is a key component of the daily workflow. The candidate must be skilled in using Microsoft Office and Google applications to manage administrative tasks.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and will be subject to a comprehensive criminal history records check. To determine suitability for the position, an extensive inquiry into job-related information will be completed; this may include, but is not limited to, reviews of criminal records, abuse registry records, driving records, past employment history, and education and training credentials. Training:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 24 semester hours in accounting.

AND

Experience:Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in professional accounting, statutory accounting or auditing work.

OR

Substitutions:(1) Master's degree in accounting may substitute for the required experience. (2) Certification or registration as a Public Accountant in West Virginia may be substituted for the training and required experience.



NOTE: An additional one (1) year of experience in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, and/or finance may substitute for the required accounting semester hours at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty (30) semester hours.
