Job Title: 2nd Shift General Laborer – Stainless Steel Production

Job Description

This role supports stainless steel production operations on 2nd shift, focusing on the passivation process, hardware installation, and preparing finished products for shipment. You will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, performing a variety of hands-on tasks that require attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and consistent quality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general labor duties within the stainless steel production department, supporting daily manufacturing operations.
  • Carry out the stainless steel passivation process according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Apply hardware to stainless steel products after passivation, ensuring correct placement and secure installation.
  • Label and prepare finished products for shipping, including packing and staging items for transport.
  • Operate sit-down forklifts safely to move materials, products, and supplies throughout the facility as needed.
  • Handle stainless steel materials and components, maintaining product integrity and preventing damage.
  • Perform basic machine operation and production tasks as assigned to support workflow and meet production goals.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions accurately, maintaining high attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while working around machinery, forklifts, chemicals, oil, and grease.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, assisting with general housekeeping in the production and shipping areas.
  • Lift, move, and position materials and products in accordance with physical requirements, using assistance when needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support efficient, high-quality production on 2nd shift.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing, production, or general labor environment.
  • Experience working with stainless steel or metal manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and effectively.
  • Experience with basic machine operation in a production setting.
  • Ability to perform packing, labeling, and shipping preparation tasks with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure product quality, accurate labeling, and proper hardware installation.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, stoop, pull, push, assemble, and carry for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience working specifically with stainless steel products or components.
  • Previous experience in steel manufacturing or metal fabrication environments.
  • Comfort working in hot, cold, or humid conditions as part of daily duties.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and adapt to changing production priorities.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility focused on stainless steel production. The work environment can include high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease, and may be hot during summer months or otherwise hot, cold, or humid depending on conditions. The role requires working on 2nd shift, typically from 3:25 PM to 1:55 AM, with an additional mandatory shift from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM every Friday through the end of 2025. You will spend most of your time on the production floor performing physical tasks, operating a sit-down forklift, handling stainless steel materials, and preparing products for shipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SOUTH BELOIT, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
