The Department of Biology at Illinois Wesleyan University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor. This position is a full time, nine month, on-campus, benefits-eligible position that begins August 1, 2026. We seek to hire a colleague who can contribute courses in animal physiology and/or invertebrate biology.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1) teaching a section of an introductory biology course for majors,
2) leading sections of Human Anatomy and Physiology laboratories,
3) contributing to the IWU Gateway Colloquium program of courses, and
4) teaching upper level courses in their area of expertise to reach a 4:4 teaching load.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the university level.
