Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed.The Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer ‘remote only’ assignments.
Compensation/Benefits
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

- Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) and as documented in application materials. - Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.

SELECTION PROCESS:If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for up to one year. If selected, candidates will be invited to an interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. Selected candidates who are not given an immediate assignment will remain in the pool for four years.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:Our facilities in the Santa Rosa Campus Race Building include classrooms with state-of-the-art computer and presentation equipment, a computer laboratory and Learning Resource Center, and a modern skill development and simulation laboratory. Clinical experiences take place in a variety of facilities and agencies throughout Sonoma county. We are seeking instructors for inclusion in a pool who have the ability to teach in the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. Immediate needs are anticipated in this discipline. Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services with theory content application in clinical and skills instruction.

Required for Associate Degree Nursing Program (Clinical Assignments):Per the California Board of Registered Nursing Legislative Code,Section 1425(d),an assistantnursinginstructor shall meet the minimum qualificationsin each categoryasfollows:- A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college which shall include courses in Nursing, or in Natural, Behavioral or Social Sciences relevant to nursing practice; Baccalaureate degree must be in Nursing or related Natural, Behavioral or Social Science fields,
- May teach in classroom but may not take full responsibility for the course.
- Requires supervision by an instructor, who has the final responsibility for students’ course grade.
- May not serve as content expert.
- Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing areas (geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental-health/psychiatric nursing, obstetrics, or pediatrics) to which the faculty is assigned, that can be met either one of the following:
- One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area; or
- One (1) academic year or of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrate clinical competency; and
- Validated clinical competence. “Clinically competent” as defined in section1420(d), which means that a nursing program faculty member possesses and exercises the degree of learning, skill, care and experience ordinarily possessed and exercised by staff level registered nurses of the nursing area to which the faculty member is assigned
- In addition to the requirements listed above, all candidates must be approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing prior to appointment to this pool.
- All candidates must hold active licensure as a registered nurse in California.
- Must understand the importance of California Board of Registered Nursing approved curriculum for nursing education.
- Must have a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred:- Previous experience teaching in a professional nursing program
- Online teaching experience at the college level
- Certification in nursing specialty areas
- Demonstrated evidence of innovative classroom teaching
- Experience using simulation in nursing education.
- Experience using a learning management system and educational software (e.g. Canvas)
- Proficiency with healthcare technology (e.g. Electronic Patient Medical Record systems)
- Candidates with subject-related work experience.
- Current industry experience relevant to the discipline.
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
