1st Assistant Football Coach

Responsible for assisting the head football coach in all aspects of coaching. Involving recruiting, retaining members, and overall in-season/off-season strategies/programs.


The 1st Assistant Football Coach will also serve in a second college assignment of one of the following: Athletic Coordinator, Housing Coordinator, Student Development Assistant, or Intermural and Student Life and Activities Coordinator. The employment in the above position is contingent upon the Assistant Coach being employed in both assigned positions.

Constant (67-100%)
  • Assist the head coach in managing and directing the football program.
  • Asist the head football coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing, and scheduling.
  • Assist with academic progress of students athletes.
  • Assists with recruiting including calling and high school visits of prospective student athlete.
Frequent (34-66%)
  • Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the College, NJCAA and ICCAC with the utmost integrity.
  • Game Planning and Play Calling. Including directing position coaches on their respective side of the ball.
  • Holding full unit meetings. (O/D Coordinator)
  • Organize and plan all recruiting aspects on and off-campus. This includes assigning areas, scheduling visits, communicating with admissions, etc. (On Campus Recruiting Coordinator)
  • Organize and plan all recruiting aspects with advancement of current players to moving on to 4-year schools.
  • Weekly meetings with players and coaches to identify interests. Also, creating and sending prospect list and transcripts to coaches around the country.(Recruiting Coordinator- Advancement)
  • Organize and plan all aspects in relation to equipment. Ordering and inventory on all equipment.
  • Sterilizing and issuing all equipment while keeping records of issued equipment. (Equipment Coordinator)
  • Travel outside the Area V recruitment areas.
  • Grade checks
  • Implementing off season workouts.
Occasional (10-33%)
  • Assist head coach with fundraising projects.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Assist in the promotion and support of the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

1. Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.

2. Help develop a Football program all can be proud of.

3. Help build strong relations with community coaches and players.

4. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, logically, and coherently, orally and in writing.

5. Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.

6. Must be able to get along with diverse personalities.

7. Be able and willing to monitor the college housing facilities during all hours of the day.

8. Keep accurate office hours.

Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s preferred. College playing experience preferred, coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred. Must hold and maintain throughout employment a current Class C Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement or willingness to complete prior to athletic season.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves constant (67-100%) sitting, talking or listening to persons over the telephone and in person, traveling for long periods of time; frequent (34-66%) standing, walking, talking, jogging, visual activity and repetitive motion, use of computer equipment; and occasional (10-33%) assembling equipment, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling and carrying/lifting up to 25 pounds.
