Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and college-level instruction within their area of expertise. This role involves maintaining up-to-date content and teaching methods, as well as collaborating with program directors to ensure best practices in curriculum design and program management. Instructors are expected to prioritize student success and retention by offering dynamic coursework that aligns with and supports the College’s mission and vision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teaching- Design and implement learner-centered lesson plans.
- Integrate current technology into classroom, online, and lab-based instruction as appropriate.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Prepare and distribute instructional materials, including syllabi, supplementary content, and multimedia resources.
- Develop and document student learning assessments aligned with course and program outcomes.
Administration- Ensure the safe and secure use of instructional spaces and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records (grades, attendance, etc.) using platforms like Colleague, Watermark, and Moodle.
- Adhere to all applicable college, state, and federal regulations and policies.
Student Support- Promote student retention and success by guiding students in developing effective academic strategies.
- Refer students to appropriate campus and community resources as needed.
- Utilize AVISO/Watermark and other tools to monitor and enhance student engagement and success.

Education and/or Experience- Minimum Qualifications:
- An associate or bachelor's degree in culinary arts or hospitality, along with 2-3 years of practical experience in the food service industry, usually as a chef
- ServSafe Certified
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Community college teaching experience, particularly in traditional, hybrid, and online formats.

SKILLS- Strong culinary skills are fundamental

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, faculty, students, and the public.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work Environment:- While performing the duties of this position, the employee primarily works indoors and frequently uses video display terminals.
- The work environment typically has a moderate noise level.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required to support instructional needs or college-related activities.
Physical Demands:- The employee must be able to occasionally stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, occasionally lift or carry instructional materials and equipment up to 20 pounds.
