What You'll Do:

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans (CCANO) has been offering English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for over 15 years. ESL classes are offered to adults in the greater metropolitan region. This person will be responsible for class instruction of students of multiple levels in both group and one-on-one settings. Our current class offerings are both online and onsite at our Metairie location. Travel to other locations may be required on an as-needed basis. Instructor/Coach schedules will be developed on a per-term basis depending on the need at that particular time.

  • Implement a focused curriculum to support students from pre-beginner level to high intermediate level students
  • Instruction and classroom management both in-person and online for adult learners
  • Offer one-on-one support to students to improve attendance and remove barriers to participation
  • Efficiently communicate with students to manage coaching sessions
  • Collect sign-in- sheets; class attendance
  • Track and record students participation and milestones into the WRU system
  • Ensure effective and empathetic communication with other program staff
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Maintain availability to respond to emergencies

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Intermediate to proficient knowledge of ESL instruction, curriculum, and teaching techniques
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) is strongly preferred. Other language skills are highly valued
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse populations, including multicultural immigrant individuals and families
  • Adaptability and flexibility to manage changing priorities and additional responsibilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to collaborate across all levels of staff and management
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of client and case information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and database systems, with the ability to learn new software
  • Familiarity with Cambridge Ventures curriculum preferred
