Job Description Summary

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by actively monitoring premises, enforcing site policies, and responding to incidents. This role requires a proactive and customer-focused professional who can ensure the protection of personnel, property, and assets while maintaining a high standard of service.

Job Requirements, Prerequisites, and Essential Functions

Job Specifications

Education: High school diploma or higher required
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of security experience required
Previous military or law enforcement experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Valid California Security Guard Card required
Must be authorized to work in the United States

Prerequisite Skills

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal)
Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
Strong observational and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions (Not Modifiable)

Security Operations

  • Monitor, control, and secure access to assigned facilities
  • Conduct regular foot patrols of the property
  • Enforce site rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Identify and respond to potential security risks

Incident Response

  • Respond to emergencies including medical incidents, fire alarms, and security threats
  • Detain individuals when necessary in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines
  • Report all incidents, accidents, and irregularities in a timely and accurate manner

Access Control & Surveillance

  • Verify authorized personnel and materials entering and exiting the facility
  • Monitor CCTV systems and report suspicious activity

Customer Service & Communication

  • Serve as a professional point of contact for visitors, staff, and management
  • Assist in resolving conflicts and maintaining a safe environment
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and client representatives

Reporting & Documentation

  • Complete detailed incident and activity reports
  • Assist with investigatory interviews and documentation as required

Collaboration & Support

  • Maintain professional relationships with law enforcement and emergency responders
  • Support special events and additional site security needs as assigned

Additional Requirements

Must be in good physical condition
Must be able to travel as required for assignments
Must be able to pass background screening, drug testing, and any required fitness or written assessments
Must provide professional references
