The Client Experience and Meaningful Life Department on the Manhattan campus is seeking interns to join our team! Work schedule is 5.5 hours on  Sundays 11 am to 5 pm.

Job Summary: Assist Community Life Activities, Volunteers, Religious Life & Therapeutic Recreation staff in running meaningful engagement activities with the residents both one- to- one and in a group setting.

Job Duties:

  1. Assist staff with on-unit activities including sing- along, music appreciation, exercise, dance, games, crafts etc.
  2. Provide one-on-one interactions such as reading to resident, Music & Memory, Technology,  letter writing, games, and conversation.
  3. Assist with transportation to off-unit  programming.
  4. Assist with off-unit programs as needed but not limited to: transporting residents to and from program, and decorating the auditorium.
  5. Assist with hanging monthly Activity Calendars and decorating communities.
  6. Assists in guiding volunteers and volunteer group projects.
  7. Coaches and mentors new volunteers.
  8. Takes an active role in new volunteer onboarding, i.e. communication with potential volunteers, assisting with  tracking and transitioning into registered volunteers.
  9. Assists with Volunteer Office clerical functions, such as logistics, record keeping, ID making.
  10. Position shift includes weekends/evenings, 20-23 hours part time per week

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years old    
  • Must be a high school or college student
  • Must have previous volunteer or intern experience at The New Jewish Home

The New Jewish Home (TNJH) provides a salary range in compliance with New York City's Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements Law.  The salary range provided reflects a good-faith estimate of potential base compensation for this position at the time of posting and does not include additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other benefits.. It may be adjusted in the future. Actual salaries depend on several factors, including location, specialty, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget considerations, internal equity, and the specific needs of the organization.
