Reports To: Workforce Development Manager / Program Director

 

Position Summary

The Workforce Development Assistant is a part-time employee of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership (SGVEP) and will support the implementation of a High School Summer Internship & Employment Program. This role plays a key part in coordinating employer engagement, supporting program logistics, and assisting with events and outreach efforts. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and interested in workforce development, education, and community engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Support

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the High School Summer Internship & Employment Program
  • Maintain program records, participant data, and employer engagement tracking
  • Support student onboarding and communication efforts

Employer Engagement

  • Conduct outreach to local employers across the San Gabriel Valley to recruit internship hosts
  • Maintain ongoing communication with participating employers
  • Assist in preparing outreach materials and tracking employer commitments

Event Coordination

  • Support the planning and execution of program-related events (e.g., orientations, workshops, networking events)
  • Assist with logistics including scheduling, materials preparation, and day-of-event coordination
  • Provide administrative support during events

Administrative Support

  • Schedule meetings and maintain calendars related to program activities
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and program updates as needed
  • Assist with general office and program-related administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in education, business, or related field
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage professionally with employers, students, and community partners
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite; familiarity with CRM systems is a plus
  • Interest in workforce development, education, or community programs preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus

Work Environment

  • Based in the San Gabriel Valley; hybrid or office-based depending on organizational needs
  • Occasional evening or event-based hours may be required
