Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist / Claims Advocate (Adjuster)

Location: Syracuse, NY Area (Marcellus, NY)


A well-established independent insurance firm in the Central New York area is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialist / Claims Advocate to support commercial clients throughout the workers’ compensation claims process.


This role serves as a key liaison between clients, insurance carriers, and internal teams to help ensure claims are progressing appropriately and resolved efficiently. The position involves managing an inventory of workers’ compensation claims, evaluating claim activity and strategy, coordinating communication between stakeholders, and helping guide clients through complex claim situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor an assigned inventory of workers’ compensation claims
  • Review claim activity and identify issues impacting outcomes such as delays, disputed items, missing documentation, or return-to-work barriers
  • Communicate regularly with carrier adjusters and third-party administrators to help keep claims progressing
  • Provide clients with clear updates and guidance throughout the claims process
  • Prepare claim summaries, reports, and documentation to support claim strategy and resolution
  • Maintain accurate claim notes and documentation within the agency management system
  • Participate in claims review meetings and assist with presenting claim trends and action plans
  • Assist with reviewing and analyzing clients’ experience modification factors


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of insurance claims experience, preferably within workers’ compensation
  • Working knowledge of New York workers’ compensation claims processes and regulations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple claims while maintaining a high level of service and responsiveness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience navigating carrier or claims management systems


Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Licensed Claims Adjuster required
