Job Title: Welding Inspector

Job Summary

This field-based Welding Inspector role involves inspecting active construction sites to ensure welding and structural work meets approved plans, specifications, and codes. You’ll perform hands-on inspections, testing, and measurements, document results, and work with project teams to resolve quality issues. The role offers long-term stability, varied projects, strong safety standards, and opportunities for training and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site welding and construction inspections and basic material testing
  • Review drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and codes to ensure compliance
  • Observe welding and construction activities and evaluate workmanship and materials
  • Verify structural steel and related work meets project requirements
  • Document inspection results and test data in clear, accurate reports
  • Communicate findings, deficiencies, and test results to project teams
  • Assist inspectors on complex inspections (steel, concrete, masonry, fireproofing)
  • Maintain inspection and testing equipment and calibration records
  • Travel between job sites using a company vehicle
  • Follow all safety policies, complete job hazard analyses, and report safety concerns
  • Support quality control and help resolve quality-related issues

Required Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • 2–4 years of experience in welding inspection, materials testing, or construction inspection
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to read construction drawings, welding symbols, and specifications
  • Experience inspecting structural welding and weld quality
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Civil or Construction Engineering Technology
  • Prior inspection experience with structural steel, concrete, masonry, or fireproofing
  • NICET Level II (Construction Materials or Geotechnical) certification
  • ICC inspection certifications
  • ASNT Level II nondestructive testing certifications
  • Strong communication skills and interest in ongoing training and career growth

Work Environment

This field-based role involves working at active construction sites with frequent travel between locations. The position requires outdoor work in varying weather conditions, navigating uneven terrain and partially completed structures, and lifting up to 50 pounds as needed. A strong safety culture is emphasized through strict adherence to safety policies, job hazard analyses, and pre-task planning. Projects span infrastructure, building, and industrial markets, offering varied exposure along with stable employment and opportunities for training and growth.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
