Job Description

This role involves performing MIG and TIG welding processes to fabricate and assemble metal carts, cabinets, stainless steel tables, and carts in a production environment. You will read blueprints, set up components for welding, and complete high-quality welds while following safety procedures and production standards. The position is physically active and requires regular lifting, carrying, and movement throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding to fabricate and assemble metal carts, cabinets, and stainless steel tables and carts according to job specifications.
  • Determine the appropriate welding process, equipment, and methods based on product and blueprint requirements.
  • Set up components and materials for welding, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and preparation before welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to complete jobs accurately and efficiently.
  • Follow all safe manufacturing practices, material handling procedures, and required personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Use hand and power tools to support welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks.
  • Conduct quality checks on all finished welds and completed work to ensure they meet established standards.
  • Follow written and verbal directions from leads or supervisors to complete assignments and production orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and clutter-free work area throughout the shift.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production needs and team goals.
Essential Skills
  • Welding certificate or 1–3 years of on-the-job MIG welding experience, with the ability to combine schooling and work experience.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding in a production or fabrication environment.
  • Ability to perform TIG welding on metal and stainless steel components.
  • Experience with fabrication, including fitting, assembling, and preparing metal parts for welding.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools commonly used in welding and fabrication.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and follow detailed job specifications.
  • Capability to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, stoop, pull, push, assemble, and carry for extended periods of time, up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance from another team member.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work while following safety procedures.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or production welding environment.
  • Comfort working on 2nd shift as needed.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with a focus on long-term employment and growth.

Work Environment

This is a manufacturing environment with both 1st and 2nd shift options. The 1st shift operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the 2nd shift operates Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The facility reflects a typical manufacturing setting that can become hot during the summer months and is neither extremely dirty nor extremely clean. You will work around welding equipment, fabrication tools, hand and power tools, and material handling equipment while wearing appropriate PPE as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Beloit, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
