Entry Level Welder

Job Description

We are seeking an entry level welder to join our team, responsible for various welding tasks including working with flat, cylindrical, or irregular parts. This role requires the ability to read blueprints and work orders with some assistance, ensuring high-quality welds on steel and zinc materials.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proficiency in turning on welding machines and connecting cables properly.
  • Adjust machine settings for proper weld penetration and appearance.
  • Activate the flow of gases and adjust gas mixture and pressure for desired flame cutting.
  • Guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining arc length and movement speed to join workpiece edges under supervision.
  • Position and secure parts using bolts, clamps, or tack welding before welding.
  • Read and interpret tape measures accurately.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in Mig welding, stainless steel, and blueprint reading.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
  • Proficiency in welding techniques including Tig, Mig, and stick welding.
  • Familiarity with fabrication, fitting, and assembly processes.
  • Experience in grinding, production, and working with materials such as mild steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Certification or 6 months of welding experience.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills.
  • Ability to use a tape measure effectively.

Work Environment

This position is based in a typical job shop environment, which can be hot, dirty, and not very well-lit. You will work around galvanized steel and must be comfortable in an industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.75 - $22.00/hr.
