Job Description

The Warehouse Worker supports the shipping department by staging, verifying, shrink wrapping, and moving palletized orders for outbound shipments. This role focuses exclusively on the shipping side of operations and requires accurate counting, attention to detail, and safe use of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks.

Responsibilities

  • Stage completed orders that have been picked so they are ready for shipment.
  • Work exclusively on the shipping side of the warehouse to prepare outbound orders.
  • Verify that the correct boxes have been picked by counting items and using a calculator to confirm pick quantities.
  • Shrink wrap pallets securely to prepare them for transport and prevent product damage.
  • Weigh completed pallets and ensure weights are recorded accurately.
  • Print and apply correct labels to pallets before loading.
  • Use a pallet jack to move pallets safely throughout the warehouse and to the loading area.
  • Assist with loading trucks by positioning and moving pallets as directed.
  • Handle materials safely, including moving, pulling, and pushing loads up to 50 pounds, with most items weighing less.
  • Support general warehouse activities such as palletizing, staging, picking, and packing as needed.
  • Follow all warehouse procedures to maintain inventory accuracy and efficient shipping operations.

Essential Skills

  • 2–3 years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Hands-on experience using a pallet jack in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience with RF scanners for picking, packing, or inventory activities.
  • Demonstrated counting and matching skills to verify orders and quantities.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order verification and labeling.
  • Ability to stand for an entire 8-hour shift.
  • Ability to move, pull, and push up to 50 pounds, with most items weighing less.
  • Experience with general warehouse tasks such as palletizing, staging, picking, packing, and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with warehouse inventory processes is a plus.
  • Comfort using basic computer systems to support shipping and labeling tasks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners is a strong plus.
  • Experience operating a Crown forklift is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced shipping environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand-new warehouse facility that was recently opened, providing a clean and modern work setting. You will work in a small department of about 10 people, fostering close collaboration and clear communication. The position is physically active, requiring standing for 8-hour shifts and regularly moving, pulling, and pushing up to 50 pounds, with most items weighing less. Daily work involves palletizing, staging, and shipping tasks using pallet jacks and, where applicable, RF scanners and computer systems to support inventory and labeling processes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodridge, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.24 - $18.24/hr.
