Job Description

The Warehouse Worker supports both warehouse operations and machine operation in a steel production environment. You will spend approximately half of your time performing general warehouse duties such as material handling, inventory support, and loading, and the other half operating production machinery, for which you will receive on-the-job training. This role offers structured shifts, shift differentials, and the opportunity to build versatile skills through cross-training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general warehouse tasks, including receiving, staging, and organizing materials to support daily production needs.
  • Handle materials safely and efficiently using equipment such as forklifts and other material handling tools as required.
  • Support inventory activities by picking, loading, and preparing materials and products for internal use or shipment.
  • Operate production machinery for approximately 50% of the workday, following training and established safety and operating procedures.
  • Monitor machine operation to maintain consistent quality and output, and promptly report any issues or irregularities to supervision.
  • Load and unload materials and products from machines, storage areas, or transport vehicles as directed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in the warehouse and around machinery.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and shift targets.
  • Participate in on-site training and cross-training to learn additional tasks and equipment as business needs evolve.

Essential Skills

  • Prior warehouse experience in a production, distribution, or material handling environment.
  • Basic experience with machine operation, or the ability and willingness to learn machine operation through on-the-job training.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks such as loading, picking, and moving products safely and efficiently.
  • Comfort working around forklifts and other warehouse equipment, with the ability to learn or apply forklift skills as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety procedures and standard operating processes.
  • Capacity to work assigned shift hours reliably, including early morning, afternoon, or overnight shifts as scheduled.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move materials, and perform repetitive tasks in a warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on machine operation experience in a manufacturing or steel environment is a strong plus.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks is beneficial.
  • Experience in production, inventory, or shipping and receiving environments is advantageous.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained on multiple machines and warehouse tasks to increase versatility.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Why Work Here?

You will join a well-organized steel facility that invests in on-the-job training and cross-training so you can broaden your skills and grow in your role. The site offers multiple structured shifts with shift differentials, providing flexibility to align work hours with your lifestyle. You will work in a clean, modern environment with a supportive operations team that focuses on safety, continuous learning, and long-term stability.

Work Environment

This role is based in a steel warehouse and production facility that operates on three structured shifts: 1st shift from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 1:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a shift differential, and 3rd shift from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. with a higher shift differential. The environment is similar to other modern steel and metal-processing operations, with a focus on safe material handling, machine operation, and efficient workflow. You will work around forklifts, production machinery, and material handling equipment, and spend most of your shift on your feet performing physical tasks such as loading, picking, and moving materials.
