Position Overview

The Outbound Dock Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for directing all outbound shipping dock operations, logistics coordination, fleet routing, and load execution during the afternoon/evening shift. This position ensures that every outbound shipment leaves accurately, on time, and in compliance with PowerPak’s operational and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in multi-modal freight (Parcel, LTL, FTL), fleet management, and hands-on dock supervision — with the academic foundation to drive continuous improvement across the outbound supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Dock Leadership & Team Supervision

  • Own the outbound dock from 2:00 PM through end-of-shift, serving as the primary point of accountability for all dock activity
  • Supervise, coach, and develop outbound fulfillment staff including pickers, packers, loaders, and dock associates
  • Assign daily tasks, manage labor allocation, and monitor individual and team performance against shift KPIs
  • Escalate staffing, equipment, or operational issues to Operations Management as needed

Outbound Logistics Coordination

  • Coordinate all outbound shipment modes including Parcel (FedEx, UPS, USPS), LTL, and FTL freight
  • Manage carrier relationships, schedule pickups, and resolve service failures or exceptions in real time
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with third-party carriers and logistics partners during shift hours
  • Monitor outbound shipment status and proactively communicate delays or changes to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate generation of all shipping documentation, BOLs, manifests, packing slips, and carrier labels

Fleet Routing & Management

  • Build, optimize, and manage daily delivery routes for PowerPak's fleet of vans and trailers using routing software
  • Oversee driver dispatch, pre-trip inspections, and hours-of-service compliance
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance scheduling with the Operations team to minimize fleet downtime
  • Track and report fleet performance metrics including DIFOT, stop counts, and cost-per-delivery

Loading Operations

  • Supervise and participate in the loading of fleet vans, trailers, and carrier pickups, ensuring proper weight distribution, load integrity, and route sequencing
  • Enforce safe loading procedures and company standards for mixed-freight handling
  • Direct forklift operators and dock associates to stage and load outbound freight efficiently
  • Conduct pre-load audits to verify order accuracy, product condition, and labeling compliance before departure

Inventory & Systems Management

  • Utilize NetSuite to manage outbound order flow, monitor inventory accuracy, and generate shipping reports
  • Leverage WMS and RF scanners to confirm picks, validate loads, and maintain real-time inventory integrity
  • Identify and resolve shipping discrepancies, short-ships, and order exceptions before close of shift
  • Support cycle count programs and collaborate with the Inventory team on outbound-related variances

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure all outbound orders meet PowerPak quality and accuracy standards prior to shipment
  • Enforce packaging, labeling, and documentation compliance across all shipment types
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and OSHA-compliant dock environment
  • Report and document incidents, near-misses, and equipment issues promptly

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare and deliver end-of-shift operational reports covering shipment volumes, exceptions, route performance, and team productivity
  • Identify and recommend process improvements across dock operations, routing efficiency, and carrier utilization
  • Partner with Operations Management to develop and implement SOPs for outbound workflows
  • Analyze shipping data trends to reduce costs, improve delivery accuracy, and enhance customer experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of warehouse or distribution experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Demonstrated expertise in LTL, FTL, and Parcel shipping operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and shipping/logistics platforms
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently; must be able to work in a physically demanding dock environment
  • Must meet all qualifications listed above to be considered for this position
