Main responsibilities:

Responsible for warehouse activities on all shifts in assigned areas, ensuring that all functions are performed within Company, Distribution Center and Department guidelines.

The position will be based in Chicago, IL

  • Supervise warehousing activities to ensure that both incoming and outgoing products are being handled in accordance with good warehousing practices.  Ensure that production standards are being maintained. Plan and assign work for most efficient use of personnel and equipment.  Recommend and implement improvements in warehouse practices to promote efficiency, quicker service, and lower costs
  • Develop quarterly/yearly smart goals that support a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Work with Inventory Control Manager and Slotting Supervisor to ensure proper product rotation, proper slotting and space allocation.  Work with Facility Maintenance Manager to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and that any repairs are handled quickly and economically
  • Ensure that all safety, security, sanitation, and pest control codes, laws, and policies are adhered to by all personnel on a daily basis.  Work with sanitation personnel to ensure that any infractions noted on the weekly inspection report corrected in a timely manner
  • Take a leadership role in all FDA Inspections, OSHA visits/complaints, Health Department inspections, and all Federal, State, and Local Government Authority inquiries. Work closely with Risk Management to ensure compliance, and to take action on all concerns identified
  • Work closely with associates, Union Stewards, Union Representatives, and our Legal Department to work through issues, grievances, and complaints to resolution

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or previous extensive experience overseeing all operational facets of a distribution facility
  • Possess thorough knowledge of material handling equipment, traffic management to include truck and rail deliveries and transportation.  Must have working knowledge of government regulations pertaining to warehouse operations
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Possess ability to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.  Deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone
  • Strong computer skills required
