The Culture and Heritage Commission (Commission) is York County’s appointed governing board for the Culture & Heritage Museums (CHM), the entity that operates York County-owned cultural resources. The Commission carries out its governance responsibilities through a Director, hired to manage the operations of CHM and its professional staff. The Commission’s role is critical in providing oversight and guidance as we plan for the future, manage the present and honor the past. Our board is a York County Commission comprised of 7 Commissioners who are appointed by the County Council and who volunteer their time, expertise and energy to guide this organization.

We are excited to hire a full-time (40 hours weekly), non-exempt Volunteer Resource Coordinator with Culture & Heritage Museums, serving Museum of York County, Main Street Children's Museum and the Historical Center of York County. The purpose of this position is to recruit, evaluate, and maintain a vital volunteer and intern program which includes individual and group volunteers to supplement staff resources in a variety of capacities throughout the museum.
Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 110:$19.43 - $23.32 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Recruit volunteers to supplement staff for quality programing.
- Coordinates administration of all aspects of the volunteer program.
- Assists the marketing team with event promotions, as well as outreach in the community.
- Ensures that volunteers feel valued by providing ongoing recognition and appreciation.
- Ensures that volunteers are being utilized and supervised appropriately.
- Develops and conducts orientation programs for volunteers and monitors their training.
- Assesses organizational needs for volunteers and interns; and designs position descriptions.
- Conducts initial interviews and screening with all prospective volunteers.
- Serves as liaison to help resolve problems between volunteers and staff.
- Conducts regular program evaluations and assesses the ongoing progress in all program components.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Psychology, Museum Studies or related discipline.
- Four (4) years of recruitment, human resources, non-profit or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical Demands: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
