Position Summary

The Vice President of Operations leads all operational and site management activities for a high‑volume Food Distribution Center, serving as the senior on‑site leader responsible for performance, safety, service excellence, and profitability. This role oversees one to three facilities within the Area and plays a critical part in achieving operational goals while maintaining a strong, positive culture.


Requirements


* Four year degree preferred or equivalent experience accepted.
* Minimum ten years of operations experience with at least five years in management roles.
* Expertise in distribution management, labor relations, DOT regulations, customer service, budgeting, OSHA and HAACP compliance, and operational safety.
* Strong leadership abilities with experience managing large teams in high volume environments.
* Proficiency in PC based systems and the ability to thrive in a fast paced, performance driven setting.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide full site leadership for a standalone Distribution Center, directing shipping, receiving, transportation, warehousing, and inventory operations.
* Execute long‑term operational strategies that align with company goals and drive efficiency, productivity, and service quality.
* Lead seven direct reports and oversee approximately two hundred associates across inbound, outbound, and driver teams.
* Champion a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with DOT, OSHA, HAACP, maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
* Drive profitable operations through cost control, loss reduction, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Lead performance management, coaching, training, and employee engagement efforts to sustain a high performing workforce.
* Build strong relationships with employees and support union avoidance strategies in a challenging labor market.
* Partner with regional and area leadership to support multi‑facility operational effectiveness.
* Participate in industry and internal knowledge sharing groups to apply best practices and strengthen operational capability.
