ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Compliance Program

  • Serve as MorseLife’s senior compliance executive.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the organization-wide compliance program in accordance with federal and Florida regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare, nonprofit, privacy, reimbursement, and housing regulations.
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Oversee compliance training and education programs.
  • Manage the compliance hotline and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensure timely investigation of compliance concerns (in coordination with General Counsel when legal issues arise).
  • Oversee corrective action plans and compliance monitoring.

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)

  • Develop and implement an integrated Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Lead annual enterprise-wide risk assessments (clinical, operational, financial, regulatory, reputational, strategic).
  • Establish risk prioritization methodology and risk tolerance guidelines in partnership with executive leadership and the Board.
  • Maintain and report on the organization’s enterprise risk register.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory, reimbursement, and operational risks.
  • Coordinate business continuity and risk mitigation planning across departments.
  • Provide regular risk dashboards and reports to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Review clinical charts to conduct risk assessments, identify potential areas of concern, and advise General Counsel; accordingly, collaborate with the executive service line lead to develop and implement quality improvement plans.

Regulatory & Operational Oversight

  • Monitor changes in federal and Florida healthcare regulations affecting skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, housing, and nonprofit operations.
  • Coordinate regulatory readiness efforts and survey preparedness.
  • Oversee privacy compliance in collaboration with Information Technology (IT) and Health Information Management.
  • Ensure appropriate internal auditing and monitoring activities.
  • Oversee compliance-related regulatory reporting obligations.

Investigations & Ethical Culture

  • Ensure objective review of compliance and risk concerns.
  • Oversee internal investigations of compliance matters.
  • Partner with General Counsel when matters involve legal exposure, litigation risk, or regulatory enforcement.
  • Promote a culture of ethics, transparency, and accountability.
  • Ensure non-retaliation standards are maintained.

Governance & Reporting

  • Works closely with the Chair of the Compliance & Risk Committee.
  • Provide quarterly reporting to the Board Audit & Compliance Committee.
  • Present enterprise risk updates to the Board.
  • Advise executive leadership on risk trends and mitigation strategies.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team and the board of directors.
  • Lead and develop compliance and risk management staff.
  • Manage departmental budget and compliance-related resources.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position provides leadership and oversight of the Compliance and Risk Management function, including direct supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or Juris Doctor preferred (Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business, Risk Management, or related field).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, internal audit, or regulatory oversight.
  • Experience in the Florida healthcare regulatory environment preferred.
  • Certification preferred (CHC, CHPC, CCEP, CRMP, or equivalent).

Strong knowledge of:
