Position is located at the Scripps Health HQ in La Jolla, San Diego and requires local residency.

Step into a pivotal leadership role with Scripps Health as Vice President, Business Development. In this role, you will drive the identification, development, and execution of strategic growth opportunities across the system. You’ll evaluate and lead initiatives including new business ventures, internal growth initiatives, physician joint ventures, and a wide range of and strategic partnerships - all aimed at advancing Scripps’ long-term growth and financial strength.

As a trusted advisor to executive leadership, you will provide expert guidance on complex strategic initiatives and emerging opportunities, helping shape the future direction of the organization. This role reports directly to the Corporate Vice President, Business Development.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with an MPA, MPH, or MBA required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, with a strong focus on business development in clinical programs and emerging opportunities.
  • Proven success leading complex organization-wide business initiatives, including joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.

  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic and quantitative analysis (internal, market, financial), problem-solving, and project management.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA preferred
  • Experience in corporate development within a tax-exempt healthcare delivery system, with additional cross-industry exposure a plus.
  • Advanced experience supporting large-scale, multi-stakeholder initiatives and transactions.
  • Strong track record of driving measurable growth through innovative partnerships.
