Senior Contract Manager (Vendor Manager Construction Services)
Location - Oakland, CA (Hybrid)
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and Oakland based on business needs.
Pay range: $160,000 - $180000
Hiring Manager is looking for someone who has experience in Vendor Management, KPIs / SLAs /QBRs, CWA vs MSA Review, EPC / Construction, Contract Execution (Post-award)
Sr. Contract Manager will be a part of dedicated procurement function for capital projects.
This role is primarily focused on hands-on vendor and contract management rather than strategic sourcing. The ideal candidate will manage active contracts within large-scale construction projects ($500M–$1B+) in EPC/EPCM environments, working closely with construction managers and business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing contracts developed by the Sourcing Manager and ensuring CWAs (Contract Work Authorizations) align with MSA (Master Services Agreement) terms
- Managing ongoing contracts, including KPIs, SLAs, supplier scorecards, and QBRs
- Monitoring vendor performance and driving continuous contract improvements
- Presenting contract performance insights and recommendations to leadership
- Supporting business units in evaluating SOWs to ensure compliance with MSA terms and assisting in developing strong CWAs
- Leading conflict resolution between business stakeholders and suppliers in accordance with contractual terms
- Managing a portfolio of high-value construction contracts and vendors
- The focus is on true contract management—overseeing and optimizing existing contracts, ensuring compliance, and driving vendor performance. Experience with contract reviews, vendor management, negotiations, and quick bids is required.
- Leads the most complex cross-functional projects and contracts
- For assigned projects be a SPOC for procurement from project initiation through completion. Develop project procurement plans.
- Follow seven step sourcing process
- Support the development project procurement work process
- Advises senior leadership (internal and external) on contracting strategy and negotiations.
- Negotiates the most complex contract issues independently.
- Leads the effort to identify, analyze, improve existing business processes, or create new ones within the department to meet new goals and objectives.
- Works closely with key stakeholders such as Project Management Director, PMO Director, Engineering Director, and others to ensure alignment.
- Acts as a primary liaison for the contracts team to Legal Department.
- Provides active guidance, support, mentorship and training to less experienced contract management staff.
- Develops and delivers contract management training to all stakeholders.
- Collaborates with other Lines of Business to promote knowledge sharing and use of best practices.
- This role requires expertise in developing and executing alternate delivery methods such as EPC, PDB, DB and CMAR
- Also, the role collaborates closely with cross-functional partners, such as project managers, construction managers, risk management, engineering, legal, sourcing and others.
