Job Description

This role offers the opportunity to lead commercial construction projects across the country for a well-established contractor that has been delivering quality work nationwide since 1981. As a Traveling Superintendent, you will oversee field operations on a variety of projects, including grocery stores, equipment dealerships, restaurants, travel centers, car dealerships, and car washes. You will coordinate subcontractors, monitor schedules and performance, and ensure projects meet quality, safety, and contractual standards while traveling regularly and returning home every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily on-site supervision of subcontractors to ensure all work follows project plans, specifications, and company standards.
  • Monitor contractor production, project schedules, and performance to keep projects on track and address issues proactively.
  • Ensure contractors complete work according to the established schedule and adjust field activities as needed to maintain progress.
  • Communicate daily project status, progress, and issues to the Project Manager to support timely, informed decision-making.
  • Report and address all potential safety concerns, incidents, and issues promptly to maintain a safe jobsite.
  • Certify that all submittals comply with contract requirements and are properly reviewed and approved before work proceeds.
  • Review plans and specifications to confirm that requirements are met for each phase of the construction process.
  • Review all material submittals for compliance with project plans and specifications before installation.
  • Read and interpret civil and utilities drawings to guide field activities and ensure correct installation of site and utility work.
  • Coordinate field logistics, including sequencing of trades, deliveries, and inspections, to support efficient project execution.
  • Work closely with subcontractors and project stakeholders to resolve field conflicts and maintain a collaborative jobsite environment.
  • Support quality control efforts by inspecting work in progress and completed work to verify compliance with project requirements.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of superintendent experience in commercial construction.
  • Proven experience in construction management and oversight of commercial projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors on active jobsites.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret civil and utilities drawings.
  • Experience reviewing plans, specifications, and material submittals for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ability to monitor and manage contractor production, scheduling, and performance in the field.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear daily updates to Project Managers and project stakeholders.
  • Commitment to jobsite safety and experience promptly addressing safety concerns and incidents.
  • Willingness and ability to travel year-round and work on out-of-town projects.
  • Ability to be away from home and travel to job sites while returning home every other weekend.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Procore experience is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with commercial projects such as grocery stores, equipment dealerships, restaurants, travel centers, car dealerships, and car washes is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, submittals, and field reporting.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with subcontractors and project teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on remote job sites while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Work Environment

This is a traveling field-based role where you will work on commercial construction sites across the country. You will typically drive to the project at the start and remain on site for the duration of the assignment, with travel home every other weekend. Lodging and flights are arranged and paid for, and you will receive a daily per diem for food and a monthly vehicle allowance. When you fly home, a rental car is provided for weekend use. You will work closely with a Construction Management team of approximately 37 professionals, many of whom also travel regularly. The company provides a supportive culture with on-site amenities at the main office, including a fitness center with access to professional trainers and a baseball batting cage available to all employees. You will use company-provided technology, including a company phone, and may work with construction management software such as Procore, where experience is considered a plus. The work environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and long-term client relationships.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $50.48/hr.
