Transportation Manager

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Transportation Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in a fast-paced fresh foods and salads manufacturing environment. Responsible for managing the transportation/logistics department. Hires, trains, and supervises employees and manages scheduling of shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee transportation department, including its assets, financials and employees.
• Manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
• Ensure customer goods move from production through the supply chain to the end user.
• Supervise transportation, reverse logistics and supply chain solutions.
• Establish quality transportation services.
• Develop partnerships with outside carriers in shipping.
• Plan and implement budgets.
• Utilize services of less-than-truckload carriers and air-forwarders to handle fulfillment shipments.
• Supervise scheduling of shipments.
• Review financial reports.
• Manage performance of branch employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
• Lead all distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities.
• Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, coach, and mentor transportation supervisors and transport drivers.
• Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness in the yard.
• Creates and maintains transportation SOP’s.
• Works with the facility safety manager on all safety concerns.

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a Transportation Manager/Supervisor
• Solid knowledge of supply chain management
• Experience in preparing and tracking orders
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to supervise and train staff
• Problem-solving abilities
• Strong financial understanding of lease agreements and budgeting
• High school diploma
• BSc in Supply Chain, Logistics or relevant field is a plus

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to work a full-time schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability to lift 50+
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift, push and pull.
• Ability to withstand 40-degree temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Ability to withstand 32-degree temperatures occasionally.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
