Compensation

The salary for this role is$95K-$145K.This is the range that we in good faithanticipaterelying on when setting wages for this position. We mayultimately paymore or less than the postedrangeand this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York.This salary range may also bemodifiedin the future.

About the Role:

The Transmission System Operatoris responsible forthe safe and reliable operation of LS PowerGridNew York’s high-voltage transmission system from the centralized operations center in Halfmoon, NY. In this role, you willmonitorand control transmission assets in real time to support the reliable delivery of electricity across the region, using Energy Management System (EMS) tools and real-time data to assess system conditions and respond to potential issues.

This roleoperatesin a 24/7 control room environment on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. All work is performedin accordance withapplicable reliability and regulatory standards, including NERC, NYISO, NPCC, and FERC, while working as part of a collaborative control room team focused onmaintaininggrid reliability.

Responsibilities

Whatyou willdo:

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond toreal-timeelectric system conditions using the EMS.
  • Operate and control electric transmission facilities in compliance with FERC, NERC, NYISO, and LSPG procedures, rules, and standards.
  • Coordinate with field personnel and neighboring utilities to safely remove and return transmission equipment to service during normal and abnormal conditions.
  • Monitor and control voltage levels and power flows tomaintainsystem reliability; analyze system data and implement corrective actions asrequired.
  • Performhigh-voltageswitching operations during normal and emergency conditions while ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Communicate planned and unplanned transmission outagesin accordance withregulatory and safety requirements.
  • Assistwith development and maintenance ofLSPGtransmission operations and maintenance procedures, guides, and manuals.
  • Support EMS system integrity, including assisting withone linediagram and system updates.
  • Maintainaccuraterecords andcomply withall applicable NERC, NYISO, and LSPG documentation and retention requirements.
  • Provideshift coverage, as needed,in accordance withestablished scheduling and staffing requirements.
  • Participate in required training tomaintainNERC certification.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Ideally, you have

  • AnAssociate (AAS) degreeinElectrical Technology oranequivalentscience or technologyfieldisdesired; militaryexperiencemaybe considered inplaceofa formal degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the electrical power industry or military power field.
  • Prior experienceoperatingwithin the NYISO footprint (preferred).
  • The ability to obtain a valid NERC Reliability Coordinator certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Formal education or technical training related to power plant operations, electrical work, instrumentation & controls, or a similar discipline.
  • Strongproficiencyin Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • The ability to work rotating 12‑hour shifts in a 24/7 transmission operations environment.
