Job Title: Tissue Technician (Tissue Processing Tech – 2nd Shift)
Job Description

This Tissue Technician role is an entry-level position in a controlled biomedical manufacturing environment, focused on upstream tissue processing. You will develop strong technical skills in tissue processing, learn and follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, and work within a clean room setting using aseptic techniques. The position trains on first shift and then transitions to second shift, supporting high-quality tissue products that meet strict regulatory, safety, and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue processing activities that consistently produce high-quality tissue products and optimal yield in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Accurately process tissue products while meeting established production schedules and daily output targets.
  • Work safely in a clean room and controlled environment, including properly donning required clean room lab attire and applying excellent aseptic techniques.
  • Follow clean room operational SOPs and laboratory safety protocols at all times.
  • Properly handle, segregate, and dispose of waste materials in accordance with defined requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork and perform data entry in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Store and move tissue products to appropriate locations to maintain accurate inventories of in-process tissue.
  • Perform cycle count activities in accordance with SOPs to support accurate inventory management.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs, Work Instructions, and procedures to ensure they remain current and effective.
  • Develop into a technical expert in learned tissue processing competencies and serve as an advisor to colleagues and engineers on tissue processing techniques and improvement opportunities.
  • Support key annual performance metrics for operations, including quality, safety, productivity, and efficiency goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, contributing ideas and feedback in team meetings and other formal and informal settings.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment while also learning to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) environment, clinical laboratory, aseptic environment, or tissue/specimen processing role.
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and Work Instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Strong understanding of, or ability to learn, aseptic techniques and clean room practices.
  • Capability to work in a controlled biomedical manufacturing environment and adhere to lab safety protocols.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient for accurate data entry and electronic documentation.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation, labeling, and inventory handling.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and leaders.
  • Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift on a rotating 4x10 schedule after initial training.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with tissue processing, tissue banking, or tissue/specimen handling.
  • Background in sterile or aseptic processing, including sterilization and decontamination activities.
  • Experience working in ISO-classified clean rooms or other controlled environments.
  • Prior exposure to lab support or environmental technician roles in biomedical or pharmaceutical settings.
  • Familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives or process optimization efforts.
  • Comfort working under defined production schedules and performance metrics.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documentation, and inventory responsibilities.
Work Environment

This role operates in a controlled biomedical manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on safety, aseptic technique, and compliance with clean room operational SOPs. You will work in an ISO-style clean room and controlled areas where you must wear appropriate clean room lab attire and follow strict gowning procedures. The position requires consistent use of aseptic techniques while handling tissue products and working with sterilization and decontamination processes. The shift structure includes initial training on first shift (approximately 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. for about two weeks), followed by transition to second shift (approximately 3:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m.) on a rotating four 10-hour days per week schedule. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alachua, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr.
