Under general direction of the Test Engineering Manager, the Test Technician designs, develops, implements, and maintains tests for network interface cards and subcomponents in intelligent power distribution systems. Tests include configuration, calibration, and quality assurance tests in all levels of the product and recording/reporting test results.The Test Technician is an entry level position that is the main production support to make sure that problems related to production testing are resolved in a timely manner. New tests are created for new products and already existing tests are improved to reduce the error rate. The Test Technician ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals. The Test Technician, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

What Will You Do?

• Support test-related production issues.
• Work with the Electrical Engineers and Project Management to determine root cause of system-level validation failures and propose solutions.
• Provide a test summary to the Engineering team of the production test results along with any necessary corrective actions.
• Generate comprehensive test and validation reports.
• Participate with Engineering in the creation of test programs to verify performance to specification of new assemblies, peripherals, and products.
• Build test equipment to support production needs.
• Review designs for complete specifications, testability, and test margin.
• Monitor and drive process improvement associated to the production test process.
• Support international manufacturing and travel as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) supplemented by college level Electronics Technician coursework; Associates Degree in Industrial Electronics or related field preferred; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Basic electrical understanding/knowledge.
• Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/ Project).
• Self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
• Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the company including Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, Operations, and Sales.
• Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills and the ability to work independently.

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

• Ability to use electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, meters, function generators, etc.
• Experience in one or more scripting languages.
• Experience working on live high or low voltage circuits.
• Internet networking skills and protocol knowledge.
• Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: Work environment is fast-paced, and priorities can shift quickly. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
