Job Description

The Test Technician I works under close supervision to test, calibrate, and support basic electronic components, subassemblies, assemblies, and instruments in accordance with established specifications and procedures. This role follows defined metrics for productivity, quality, and cost, and contributes to a safe, efficient, and respectful aerospace manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate simple and basic electronic components, subassemblies, assemblies, and instruments according to defined procedures and instructions.
  • Perform functional testing on simple and basic electronic components, subassemblies, assemblies, and instruments following established specifications and work instructions.
  • Set up common, regular, and proprietary test equipment efficiently and correctly to support testing and calibration activities.
  • Accurately create and document rework records and non-conformance reports (NCRs) as issues are identified.
  • Correctly record, track, and report First Pass Yield data in accordance with internal standards and metrics.
  • Understand and comply with equipment calibration requirements, ensuring all test equipment is maintained and used within specified calibration intervals.
  • Understand and comply with electrostatic discharge (ESD) requirements and handle sensitive electronic components using proper ESD controls.
  • Actively suggest and support ideas for process improvements and cost savings, including improving cycle time and reducing waste.
  • Follow all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures and consistently model safe work practices on the production floor.
  • Meet defined standards for productivity, quality, and cost as measured by established operational metrics.
  • Contribute to and support a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production, testing, and repair activities.
Essential Skills
  • 1–2 years of experience with complex electrical testing and troubleshooting, including electrical assembly, electrical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • One to two years of practical experience working with complex electronic test equipment in a troubleshooting and repair environment.
  • Military or trade school training in electronics, including digital and analog theory and solid-state circuitry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading, interpreting, and understanding written requirements, procedures, and specifications related to assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading, interpreting, and understanding wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, circuit schematics, engineering change orders, and customer service repair instructions.
  • Intermediate-level soldering skills for work on electronic assemblies and components.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of electronic test equipment for calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail when performing tests, calibrations, and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a technical environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation when supporting internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly master new business knowledge and technical skills related to products, processes, and equipment.
  • Comfort working with computers and learning new software and programs quickly.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics or higher is preferred.
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing or similar high-reliability production environment is beneficial.
  • Experience using test equipment for repair and calibration of electronic assemblies.
  • Familiarity with documenting rework, non-conformance reports, and yield metrics.
  • Ability to participate in an in-person interview and complete an on-site schematic test as part of the selection process.

Work Environment

The position is based in an aerospace manufacturing and production machine shop environment. While performing the duties of this role, you will frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level can be high at times, consistent with a busy production floor that includes machinery and test equipment. Work involves regular use of electronic test equipment, computers, and standard office software. Appropriate safety procedures, equipment, and environmental controls are in place, and employees are expected to follow all environmental, health, and safety policies at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Everett, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $32.00/hr.
